I found this fun little video that sums things up pretty nicely without obviously favoring one side or the other. It points out that this conflict is new, and not theologically based but actually a conflict over land. It looks at the population demographics around the turn of the century, and how things were going pretty well for a while. It mentions Hertzel, and how the Balfour declaration promised land that was still ottoman Rule, and promised to multiple different parties simultaneously. Basically the British messed everything up. It summarizes a few revolts and their outcomes, and the few unsuccessful two-state solutions that were introduced over the next century. It is relatively current, almost exactly 2 years old.
