In this article it is reflected that the new President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, is apologetically pro-Israel, having brought on “advisers [that] financially support illegal Israeli colonial settlements and disavow Israel’s status as an Occupying Power.” It states however, that is overt favoritism is not cause for mass panic. For, what President Trump is saying outright, has been the policy of the United States,
“consistent with a counterproductive US Middle East policy since 1967 that has led us into this present-day reality. This policy has opposed Israeli territorial aggrandizement in word but has facilitated that very expansion in deed.”
As such, it is the belief of the author that, nothing drastic will change, but that Israel shall continue its process of settlement building as it proceeded to due with the coming of a new US President.
It states that what the Palestinian Authority must do is “to continue to internationalize the conflict, to delegitimize Israel’s settler-colonial project, to demand states impose economic and military sanctions upon Israel, and to support a robust and global grassroots BDS movement.”
