Swedish authorities stop planned Torah burning

Some young Swedish Muslim of Arab origin guy wanted to spark a debate by asking them to burn a Torah in front of the Israeli Embassy in Sweden. However, he was denied on Jan. 27, 2023, meaning Sweden changed their views on burning religious books such as the Torah within less than a week (changed since Jan. 21, 2023). The YouTube version of this I watched believed it was hypocrisy to allow Rasmus Baludan to burn a copy of the Quran and then not allow a burning of the Torah to happen a week later.

There are two reasons I can think why Sweden may do this.
1) To get approval from Turkey to get into NATO according to the Irish Times.
2) To start respecting religious beliefs since the Swedish prime minister tweeted “But what is legal is not necessarily appropriate” on Jan. 21, 2023.

Last week, the Swedish government agreed to let Rasmus Baludan, leader of the far-right Danish “hard line” party, burn a copy of the Quran, citing it as “freedom of expression.”

AMMAN — A week after a politician burned the Quran in Stockholm, Swedish authorities stopped a planned burning of the Torah in front of the Israeli embassy, according to Swedish officials.
