On Friday night, Netanyahu presented plans to the Israeli security cabinet to keep the Israeli military in the Philadelphi corridor during the first phase of negotiations with Hamas, when hostages are supposed to be released. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant disagreed with this plan, believing that Hamas would never agree to it and therefore the hostages would not be released. Gallant also suggested that the maps Netanyahu used as proof had been tampered with. The cabinet ultimately voted 8-1 for Netanyahu’s plan, with Gallant being the only dissenter, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir abstaining from the vote.
During this time, two suspected terrorist attacks occurred in the West Bank – an attempted car bombing and a hit on a security guard near the settlement of Karmei Tzur. The Palestine Islamic Jihad movement took responsibility for these attacks, claiming that Israeli soldiers were killed during them; however, no proof was given to substantiate the claim.Friday night, Netanyahu presented the Israeli security cabinent with plans to keep the Israeli military in the Philadelphi corridor during the first phase (in which hostages are also supposed to be realesd) of negotiations with Hamas
