Y.L. Pinsker’s Autoemancipation 1881

In class you asked if Palestine was mentioned as a destination in Autoemancipation. In “Israeli identity: in search of a successor to the pioneer, Tsabar and settler” by Lilly Weissbrod on GoogleBooks, on page 15 states “Palestine was not mentioned in his manifesto, Autoemanzipation (first published in 1882). Pinsker adopted Palestine as teh national destination later, under the influence of more traditional Jewish thinkers, yet made no mention even then of a Jewish culture, or the link between its revival and Zion”
