Currently, Gaza is highly reliant on Israel and international aid for much of its basic utilities and resources, such as drinking water. This article details the opening of a new desalination plant opening in Gaza, via EU funding. This increases the number of plants to two, and makes the Palestinians in Gaza more self-sufficient.
