A new ProPublica report reveals that Blinken knowingly lied to Congress, saying, “We do not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting [aid]”
When the U.S. Agency for International Development delivered its report to Blinken in April, they had reached a damning conclusion. They concluded that Israel deliberately blocked American Humanitarian Aid from reaching the Palestinians, which is a war crime. U.S. law dictates that the government must cease weapons shipments to nations that block U.S.-backed humanitarian aid. If Blinken had done th right thing and not ignored the report, $830,000,000 worth of weapons would have been frozen and not sent to Israel.
On May 10th, roughly a week after Blinken received this report, he told Congress, “We do not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting the transport or delivery of U.S. humanitarian assistance.” He knowing lied to Congress to cover for Israel’s weaponization of food, something he himself had previously disavowed.
The USAID memo claimed there was enough flour stockpiled to feed 1,500,000 Gzans for 5 months, and it was only 30 miles across the Gazan border. These resources would have been life-saving, especially since the UN declared there to be a famine in Gaza, with roughly half of the refugees going days in between meals.
