In one of our first classes we briefly discussed the debate over whether the Gaza Strip is the most densely populated location in the world and through a quick internet search it appears that it is not actually the most densely populated region.
This short article from the Washington Post examines the population density of Gaza City and the author explains that while it is not technically the most densely populated city district in the world, it is still in a unique position because of its small geographic size and the proportion of people living within its bounds.
Here is the graphic that appears within the article and compares Gaza City to other densely populated cities in the world:
The Washington Post article also cites a page that refutes the popularized statement that the Gaza Strip as a whole is the most densely populated and uses the CIA World Factbook to verify their claim.
