The UN recently delivered aid to thousands of civilians being held under siege in the Syrian-government held area of Deir al-Zour. There is also said to be a two-week long cease-fire declared by the main rebel umbrella group, the High Negotiations Committee . The Syrian government has also stated that it would observe a “cessation of hostilities”.
